“I'm not going to lie, before I started going to the classes I was in a negative mindset about it. Thinking oh grief, another self-help group that won't do anything. This is going to be a waste of time. As it turns out, this has been everything but that. I see myself and the world way differently. I value myself a lot, and I'm not ready to give up on the world yet. I've found an inner strength I never knew I had when I went to MCJ to talk to the surgeons about my wound. I was offered spice, meth, tobacco, and liquor for free. There's a bunch of it. Not only did I turn it down, but I did so without hesitation and truly meant every word. I didn't want any of it and I never even had to think about it. Even though I should have wanted to in this situation, I can't wait to show my girlfriend and brother the new me and maybe help them.
